The Binding Oath

Adventurer Charter

A solemn compact between the Guild and all who seek passage through the realms unknown

In the Name of the Guild

We, the founders of Axiom 10, do hereby establish this Charter as the foundational covenant between the Guild and every adventurer who bears our seal. Let it be known across all realms that those who travel under our banner are bound by honour, guided by wisdom, and protected by the full weight of the Guild's ancient authority. This Charter shall endure so long as there are roads yet untravelled and horizons yet unseen.

Rights of the Adventurer

I

Right of Safe Passage

Every registered adventurer is entitled to the Guild's full protection along all chartered routes. No toll, tariff, or tribulation shall be levied without prior notice and fair compensation.

II

Right of True Counsel

All adventurers shall receive honest and complete information regarding the perils, provisions, and peculiarities of their chosen destination before departure.

III

Right of Redress

Should any journey fall short of its chartered promise, the aggrieved adventurer may petition the Guild Council for remedy, recompense, or rescheduling without penalty.

IV

Right of Fellowship

No adventurer shall be denied companionship on the road. The Guild shall endeavour to match lone travellers with compatible parties upon reasonable request.

V

Right of Lore

Every adventurer shall have access to the Guild's full cartographic archives, bestiary records, and regional lore pertaining to their registered journey.

Responsibilities of the Adventurer

I

Duty of Honest Registration

All adventurers must provide truthful information regarding their experience, capabilities, and intentions when registering with the Guild. Misrepresentation is grounds for immediate revocation of charter.

II

Duty of Preparedness

Adventurers are expected to arrive equipped and provisioned as advised by their Guild liaison. Failure to prepare adequately endangers not only oneself but all fellow travellers.

III

Duty of Respect

The lands, peoples, and customs encountered on Guild journeys must be treated with reverence and care. Desecration of sacred sites or mistreatment of local inhabitants is strictly forbidden.

IV

Duty of Reporting

Upon return, each adventurer shall submit a full account of their journey to the Guild's chroniclers, noting any changes to routes, hazards encountered, or discoveries of note.

V

Duty of Solidarity

When a fellow adventurer is in peril, Guild members are bound to render aid within their means. The road is long and treacherous; no one walks it alone.

Code of Conduct

The honour of the Guild rests upon the conduct of its members. These principles are not mere suggestions — they are the living spirit of the Charter, observed by every adventurer from the greenest novice to the most seasoned wayfarer.

  • Speak truth in all dealings, whether with Guild officials, local guides, or fellow travellers.
  • Leave no trace of harm upon the natural world; tread lightly and restore what you disturb.
  • Honour all agreements made under the Guild seal, for your word is the Guild's bond.
  • Share knowledge freely with those who follow in your footsteps; the map grows richer with every journey.
  • Conduct yourself with dignity in foreign lands, remembering that you represent the Guild in all you do.
  • Resolve disputes through counsel and reason before resorting to any other means.

Charter Amendments

Year 412

The Deepwood Accord

Year 489

The Pelagic Rider's Clause

Amended the Right of Safe Passage to encompass sea voyages and river expeditions, bringing maritime adventurers fully under the Guild's protection and establishing the Harbour Liaison network.

Year 531

The Arcane Traveller's Provision

Recognised the unique needs and risks of magic-users undertaking Guild journeys, establishing specialised briefings, arcane supply caches along major routes, and dedicated counsel for planar expeditions.
